Muslim Prayer Room
This Muslim Prayer Room is situated in a rest station in the south of Thailand where the predominant population is Muslim. It gives travelers a space to perform their daily prayers in a serene surrounding even though on the road. It is built entirely of earth and bamboo. There are 2 sections for man and women. The prayer room itself is fitted with 3 imaginary windows create by bottles in the wall with the middle one pointing in the direction designated by a member of the local Muslim authorities. The bamboo roof is fitted with 4 skylights that perform a beautiful lighting display on the earthen walls and floors. Outside is an area for washing the feet also made of bamboo and a washing stone to place the feet. The doors are made by intricate hardwood handicraft inlaid with bamboo.
