Forest Temple Salas

The monks following the teachings of revered master Ajahn Chah are called Forest Monks. They live their lives as simple as possible, following the Lord Buddha’s teaching closely. Their temples are usually in forests like this temple in Chiang Rai province called Wat Pa Yen Boon. It is without electricity and exudes a natural and simple lifestyle. Therefore the Forest Temple Salas were designed in simple style using natural materials only. Bamboo for the roofs, the rafters were trees from the temple property. We designed and built 2 Salas. The main Sala is very long and culminates with a small building called Kutti for a revered monk. The second smaller sala is still rather long and in the middle of the trees with animal like endings of the roof on both sides.
